In a significant move, the West Bengal government has suspended 12 doctors from Midnapore Medical College and Hospital following allegations of medical negligence that led to the tragic death of a woman. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and brought the issue of healthcare accountability to the forefront.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her condolences to the family of the deceased and announced a compensation package. The family will receive financial aid of ₹5 lakh and a government job for one of its members. “This is a tragic incident, and we stand by the family in this difficult time. The state government will ensure that justice is served,” said Banerjee.
The Chief Minister also confirmed that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading to the patient’s death.
