In a significant move, the West Bengal government has suspended 12 doctors from Midnapore Medical College and Hospital following allegations of medical negligence that led to the tragic death of a woman. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her condolences to the family of the deceased and announced a compensation package. The family will receive financial aid of ₹5 lakh and a government job for one of its members. “This is a tragic incident, and we stand by the family in this difficult time. The state government will ensure that justice is served,” said Banerjee.

The Chief Minister also confirmed that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading to the patient’s death.
